The Australia Day carnival is held in Gordon Park beside the beautiful Nambucca River on 26th January each year.

The event includes market stalls, crab races, auctions, carnival rides, sack races, a sausage sizzle, music and the Great Australian Raft Race.

The Great Australian Raft Race attracts many entrants using
outlandish homemade vessels of all descriptions. Some even
sink before reaching the starting line. The event commences
from the Gordon Park launching ramp in Nambucca Heads

Some contestants take the race most seriously

Others are happy just to compete and hopefully finish!

Be sure to obtain a copy of the rules from the event's organisers. Although the contestants in this event are notorious cheats you will need a copy of the Official Rules in order to knowledgably defend yourself when you face the protect Committe.
